After re-reading Paulo Coelho's novel The Zahir recently, I felt inspired to share this idea of the Acomodador with you.
"The acomodador or giving up point: there is always an event in our lives that is responsible for us failing to progress: a trauma, a particularly bitter defeat, a disappointment in love, even a victory that we did not quite understand can make cowards of us and prevent us fro moving on. As part of the process of increasing his hidden powers, the shaman must first free himself from that giving-up point and, to do so, he must review his whole life and find out where it occurred".
So what is it that holds you back- find it, review it and release it and lets go, for we are all born with infinite power to dream, create and live our dreams. Our dreams are our highest honour and we should pursue them relentlessly and then we shall find true joy.
Yesterday I had a conversation with a man that has been a tradesman for 20 years in a factory in the UK- he is endeavouring to move his young family over to Australia to pursue his dream of owning a dealership for the same company. He felt like he is acting on faith- and I noticed him light up as he spoke about it. I knew he was following his dream. and that it would work out for him!! so inspiring to see people going for it!!

Next Generation Planning
The Council of Mayors (SEQ) in partnership with the Queensland Government recently developed a new handbook entitled "Next Generation Planning". The guidebook aims to encourage affordability and diversity in neighbourhood design and housing choice in South East Queensland. Utilising the four concepts of:
The project has an easily digested video available for the community to grasp the key concepts of the guidelines:, and to communicate the idea that affordable living means more than the price of a house- in an attempt to reset the idea of the suburban Australian dream.
The handbook is a great tool for our Local Governments to access and I think it is a positive step towards decreasing urban sprawl by educating consumers in housing choice.

Gold Coast Cultural Precinct Masterplan
For those who think the Gold Coast doesn't have a real 'arts' culture here is your chance to comment!! The Gold Coast City Council is currently undertaking community consultation on a draft master plan for a Cultural Precinct to enhance the city's cultural assets. Now and When
It's interesting to consider the design of our cities for a moment and how they influence our daily lives. Often you will hear people complain about the traffic, the lack of car parking or how they like/don't like a particular building.
The current composition of Australian cities are largely a result of the introduction of the motor vehicle, and its subsequent immersion in our culture. Our cities are designed around roads that us all get us somewhere, just not as quickly or with as much ease as we would like.
Another important idea to consider is how our modern lives affect the landscapes we don't live in- natural landscapes.
An engaging exhibition is being shown at the Gold Coast Arts Centre entitled "Now and When"Australian urbanism. This exhibition portrays Australian cities in their current form, with the images taken from a helicopter and viewed in 3D. The sequence then takes us into an avatar-esque vision of the future of our landscapes portraying an idea of how we might live.
Phillip Follent, the Queensland State Architect, encouraged the audience on the opening night to consider how the internet that was not a part of our lives only 20 years ago, had changed so much and how our lives had evolved alongside. Further, may we consider that our cities are also then capable of massive transformation and that how we live today may transform into something that is only an imaginary construct today.

É interessante considerar o projeto de nossas cidades para um momento e como eles influenciam nossas vidas diárias. Freqüentemente você ouvirá as pessoas queixar-se sobre o trânsito, a falta de estacionamento de carro ou como eles gostam de/não gostam de um edifício de particular.
A composição atual de cidades australianas são em grande parte um resultado da introdução do automóvel, e sua imersão subseqüente em nossa cultura. Nossas cidades são projetadas ao redor de estradas que nos todos recebem-nos em algum lugar, somente não como rapidamente nem com facilidade tanta como nós gostaríamos de.
Outra idéia importante considerar é como nossas vidas modernas afetam as paisagens que nós não vivemos em- paisagens naturais.
Uma exposição atraente está sendo mostrado nas Artes de Litoral de Ouro Centra intitulado "Agora e Quando" urbanism de australiano. Esta exposição retrata cidades australianas em sua forma atual, com as imagens tomadas de um helicóptero e visto em 3D. A seqüência então toma-nos numa visão de avatar-esque do futuro de nossas paisagens retratando uma idéia de como nós talvez vivamos.
Phillip Follent, o Arquiteto de Estado de Queensland, incentivou a audiência na estréia considerar como a Internet que não era uma parte de nossas vidas só há 20 anos, tinha mudado tanto e como nossas vidas tinham-se desenvolvido ao lado. Mais adiante, podemos nós consideramos que nossas cidades são também então capazes de transformação imensa e que como nós vivemos hoje podemos transformar em algo que é só um construto imaginário hoje.

Andy Dooley - and the activation of the vibration !!
In Andy Dooleys universe, its all about the feeling- which activates your vibrational point of attraction. Thus your are in an allowing and receiving mode and open to all that the universe can conjure up for you.I attended his workshop in Brisbane yesterday "Breakthrough, How to Double your Manifestations and Have Fun!"
and in the way of all great teachers Andy shares stories from his own life to illustrate his teachings and lessons. The way he intersperses spiritual breathing and meditational techniques with off the wall humour and outlandish gestures really makes for a winning combination to rev up his audience.
He gave me some great new techniques to really take the seriousness out of spirituality and to focus on the joy of creation and being here on the planet! That's right, I am telling my new story and living and breathing my new identity Andy. The energy in the room was amazing and the audience really started to get it from wherever they were at. That was the beauty, you could be really in line with your goals, or you could be more in the beginning to understand stages, where ever you are you can start to feel better about yourself and your life right now!
